You can cleanse the Jars with incense and leave in INDIRECT sunlight to charge. 
 
Once herbs fade or jar breaks, it means it has served its purpose, (for protection jars it may mean it has taking a hit for you and done its job)
You can keep any crystals in the the jar and cleanse them. And return the herbs to the earth with gratitude. You can keep the jar for yourself for your own spell craftings or resue <3
